Question about the 504L Balers? What is the difference between the 504L with net wrap and the 504L Silage Special? Can you use the silage model for baling regular hay? I assume both of these balers make a 4 ft wide by 5 ft high bale?

The silage special will have a heavier lower drive roller and extra scrapers in the baler to keep the wet hay from wrapping on the rollers. No real changes to the basic baler when the net wrap is added expect for adding the netwrap. They both make a 4' wide by 5' tall. I don't recomend making a full bale with silage becuase they get so darn heavy, but if you the right equipment go ahead.

Thanks for the replies; I presently have a Claas Rollant 62 Baler which I like, only has a 4 ft wide pickup without gathering wheels. Just thought I might upgrade to a Vermeer.

Any Vermeer 504L, XL or Rebel will bale Silage or dry hay. The Silage Kit option is to reduce some residue buildup when baling some silage crops.
