I am looking for a few square headed 5/8 X 2 inch machine bolts. They go on a old IHC plow. Does anyone know any source for these. I figured I had could find some but all places have said they didn't have any anymore.

Why in the world would anyone want to put square headed nuts and bolts back on? I love working on my old machinery, but hate, very ferociously, having to deal with those blasted square fasteners, most of which are rusted solid. You cannot use a box wrench or a socket, but only an open-end wrench. And if you're working in a tight spot, well, get the torch and hope you don't burn the machine up. I replace with hex.

Point is, where square-headed bolts are needed you never need a wrench. The head fits into a groove that prevents it FROM turning. If you use other than the sq-head, then you DO have problems getting any wrench in that groove.

You could try your local John Deere dealer. Deere uses a square headed bolt on some of the older rear wheel weights. Probably will be cheaper also if they got the size on hand.

Believe it or not, I get most of the square head nuts and bolts thru my local ACE hardware. Shocked me when I asked about 2 yrs ago, and the guy said "sure". Ace is the place! Larry
