Looking to purchase a nearly new Discbine. Narrowed down to NH 1411 & Hesston 1320. Can get the best deal on the Hesston - is it a good machine? NH dealer is closer for future parts needs.

I bought the NH1412 last year, flails not rollers. I would definetly recommend it. I have had no problens and it cuts terrific. The blades are very easy to replace, the height adjustment is simple and the rest of the maint. is easy. I have nothing bad to say about this machine, just make sure you have enough tractor to run use it. I think it says 80 or 85hp min. I used a TN70 and it worked pretty good but a little more hp would be better.

I would go with the NH. Never used a discbine from either company, but have seen lots of NH 1411 out there. We bought a new Hesston round baler last spring. It is junk. It broke after 3 bales. Dealer help has been poor at best. The baler works, but you had better take some tools and know how to use them if you want it to keep baling. I also used to have a Hesston haybine. Compared to a New Holland it was junk. I dont think i would buy anything hesston again.

I'm not a Hesston dealer but have to believe if you contact Hesston they will give you some help. We take Hesston balers in on trade all the time. Hesston's work and do a good job but the Hesston round balers are slower than Vermeer round balers. Especially in these days when many customers work off the farm, they have very limited time to bale their hay so they need to save time by purchasing advanced technology. Customers purchase 17+ tedders and V-Rakes to save time. It is a proven fact that you can take a Vermeer baler pull it with less HP than other MFG, in a gear or two faster and purchase it for less dollars than the other brands.
