Looking for a 7ft MoCo

Been thinking about buying a decent older 7ft sickle cut mower conditioner(or haybine or whatever you want to call it). Don't really care about age, just as long as it's a decent machine. I'm a little more partial to New Holland stuff, but am open to other brands. And of course, the cheaper the better. Just want something to cut a little(20 to 30 acres) hay. Thanks.

Casey;
Still hard at the haying racket are you?. I too like the NH stuff and have used a friends NH 472, nice machine, smooth, runs easy, cuts nice with the stub guards. Another friend has a 488.Good working machine but he had to do some major repairs to the hitch, it devloped some very hard to repair cracks. I have had 6 seasons with my old IH 990. Ugly, pulls hard, robs power, rough, noisy,but it cuts clean and has hardly cost a cent for repairs. They sell slowly around here for 5-700 while a NH will run 12-1500. Still using the 4000? Good luck with your search. Roy

Hey Roy,

It's good to hear from you. I had some 'puter problems awhile back and pretty much lost everything(including email addy's), but I've been meaning to catch up with you some way. Thanks for the info on the IH machine. I'm pretty much looking for the cheapest thing I can find that will still cut decent and not kill me in downtime. A neighbor's had really good luck with a Hesston 1071, but I don't know much else about them. Right now, I'm open to pretty much anything. And yeah, the old 3000 is runnin' great, still looks like garbage, but couldn't ask for anything to run any better. Drop me a e-mail sometime, I might just get interested in moving up north.

Casey

I bought an old blue (Ford) Model 515 7' last year. It seems to be pretty nice for it's age. Doesn't have a pitman arm and is 3 pt. Very very quiet and folds up nicely for transport. I was told that Ford was pretty much a pack leader in this arena so I guess current NH units are too.
