I've located a hammer mill but am having trouble identifying it. The owner says it's an eighteen inch mill. It has a cross auger coming out the bottom that feeds into an auger that goes up about eight feet in the air then has a chute on it for the feed to run out. On the vertical auger I can still make out Ward, but that is the only part that has any name on it. It is pto driven and has two feeds rolls to feed cob corn into the hammers. Any help i can get identifying this would be appreciated!!

Brandon You have a Montgomery Ward 18AT grain and roughage mill. That mill will really grind feed. Ralph Ia

Ralph,
Thanks for the information. What all can be ground by this mill. You say grain and forage, what type of forage?? The owner says it has an oats screen in it and that's the only one he has. Do you know the HP requirements of it?? Thanks again for the info, anything else you could share would be greatly appreciated!!!! Brandon

Brandon, 18At stands for a 18" screen. The A is for the auger and the T for the drop table. It will grind all grains and I would grind alfalfa hay to. I used a 70D which was plenty of power. If you have a oat screen, I guessing its 1/8 or 3/16 in. Think I used a 1/4 inch screen most of the time. The conveyer belt would get grain under it and would'nt last long. It helped to pull the tin plate under it out but I ended up with out a belt at all, just let the grain build up an flow in the mill.

Afraid I can't help you with that. Maybe a tapemeasure and help from a NAPA dealer. Good luck.

Sounds more like a gris mill not a hammer mill, I have both and what you have said here makes it sound like my gris mill.
