White 2-105 Too Big??

Do you think that a white 2-105 is too big for making hay? I cut with a JD 920 diskbine, rake with a pequea hr10 rotary rake, and bale with a new holland 273 sq and 850 rnd. I currently do this with a deutz 60-06 and case 400, But I would like to look at the white for the cab with air and over under trans. It is rated at 106 pto and 87 drawbar hp and 11,400 lbs. What do you think???

The weight of the tractor could be a problem if the ground is soft. We mow with a 4020, rake with a 4020 and bale with a 4320. Last year we left some fields rutted which could cause some problems this year. Even without ruts compaction can really take it's toll on a field.

We have a 2-105. I think it is an excellent tractor. It is probably a little big, but the ride is excellent and gets around very good for that size of tractor. One thing to watch, it freewheels in under on the 3-speed. This is normal, but is a change from other tractors. Also, you need to change the 3-speed oil everytime you change engine oil. If this is done it is trouble free. The fuel use and the power from the Perkins engine is very good. We pull a 12 row planter, 15 FT no-till drill, NH 851 baler, NH 316 baler and a NH 1411 discbine.

Some factors to consider!!!
1) Hills... If operating on steep hills I wouldnt do it!
2) Weight... A heavier tractor will do more damage to a hay crop!
3) During wet weather a heavier tractor is going to make ruts in the ground creating un-even terrain, & will cause excessive wear! (cutterbars, rake tines, etc. etc.)
4) Bigger engine... More fuel / acre!
5) Overall... Parts/repairs will cost more!

The list could go on. In a nutshell You have more than enough horsepower with the 2-105. It just depends on your peticular situation. A wet or dry climate, very steep hills, & financial situation to start off. I personally think they are a very good tractor; but I am not buying it!
