I have a JD hay wagon that works fine and I would like to paint / restore. I've never restored anything -- can anyone tell me where I can read about the steps to painting old farm implements? Can I just sand-blast it and repaint, or what?

Thanks

You got it. Sandblast, prime, and paint. Be sure to get "classic" JD green. The paint they use on current equipment isn't quite the same shade. There were lettering and emblem variations over the years. Earlier wagons had just "John Deere" in the old font on the axle box beams, some had that and the "quality farm equipment" emblem, later ones had different font "John Deere" and the "4-leg leaping deer" emblem. All these decals can be had at places such as Jorde's or even from Valu-B ilt. Just have to decide how you want it to look.
