I have acquired an old Deere #5 mower and would like to attach it to my '47 B. There must be some parts missing on the mower as there appears to be no way to attach the mower to the drawbar. All I have on the front of the mower is a piece of "angle iron" w/ a bunch of holes in it.
Is this it or is there something in between that I am missing? Any place to find pictures of the missing parts?

Thanks!!

2 different type mounts depending on age of mower, newer had the quick tatch brackets while older did not and used the flat base bounting brackets, this system would bolt direct to Farmall drawbar without brackets, the quick tatch clamped to a 2" diameter bar with different brackets made for different tractors, the quick tatch hitch was first designed for the hitch on M &MT tractors without attachments

Manual for JD#5 shows that there were two brackets sold that bolted to the drawbar on either side. These had outward facing pegs which are about and inch and a half in diameter and maybe three inches long. The mower had two arms coming from the front that grabbed these pegs. Hard to expain but obvious when seen. Both my #5 mowers have these arms, but not all do. I have a set of the brackets around too, but am hanging on to them to sell with mower someday. Ebay routinely lists the arms and the brackets or a classified here will no doubt give you many leads.
Good mowers, good luck!

Get an operator's manuel for the #5. There are usually some on e bay. It will show the mounting for your B. JD made mounts for the number 5 for most all models of JD as well as others of the time so who knows what you have. The manuel will really help ya getting it adjusted and all also.
