NH55 HELP before I get the big hammer!!!

Trying to put the Tine bars back on and it is kicking my rear. I have 3 of them back on. Loose nuts. Have the left spider Bracket loose and I also losened the left spider its self to get some more room. Cant get the bars to line up with the holes.
Whats the trick to these? I am sure there is not a NH mechanic alive that would have contortioned him self like I just did.

This is not one of New Holland's better ideas. The proper way is to enter all 5 bars at one time. I know this is almost impossible, so loosen all bars (both ends)and remove the center hub bolts. At this time it takes alot of prayer or cussing, which ever you believe most in. (hopefully prayer)LOL!! Steve

What a Pain in the rear. With the left spider bracket loose and the spider with the bolts as loose as I could get them with out them coming out.
I took a big C clamp and clamped the spider and the frame and that pulled it over enough to get the last 2 bars on. Felt good getting her out of the shop. Going to paint it as soon as it warms up enough.
Put the Nh68 baler in the shop now its time to get that one ready.
Going to replace the stationary knife and repair the slide rails. Then replace the right knotter with a new one.

When I replaced 2 bad bar bearings last year I took out that rubber spacer/bushing on the back hub - then the bars go in. Took a long time with 2 screwdrivers to squeeze the rubber back in where it belongs. If you have all the bars out, I would do the whole hub loose like the other person said. There is not going to be a 'quick' way to do this.... ;)

Kelly,

Just did this yesterday and they are a booger to get back together. The best way is to remove the wheel that the tine bars are attached to from it's axle. There are lug bolts in the center. Once you get them out, remove the nuts from the tine bars you have already attached and slide all 5 tine bars into the wheel at the same time. This of course would be easy if you were an octopus, but since I assume you are not you may want to get some help from a friend. Once all time bars are attached to the wheel, re-attach the wheel and you're done. Sounds SOOOO simple! Good luck! ;-)
