IH 35 hayrake

I'm looking at a 5 bar number 35 hayrake with front dolly wheels. It looks like a good rake. Anyone using one? are they a good rake? Thanks.

I bought one new about twenty years ago and have never had any problems from it. I've always kept it greased and stored inside. It doesn't have the dolly wheels, but I would buy another one in a minute.

Are all model 35s hydraulic, or ground drive or both? Does hydraulic drive make them more valuable?

They were available in either ground or hydrualic drive. Around here the ground drives seem to bring about $100 than hydrualic drives, I guess because they can be used on smaller tractors with poor hydrualic systems. We just bought a ground drive 35 with the 5th bar and dolley wheels from a neighbor and I've found a second hydrualic drive model I'd like to buy to put on a tandem rake hitch to speed raking.

I have found them to be a good piece of equipment, you just have to take care of the wear points. There are ground driven models and there are hydraulic motor driven models. I would say that all things being equal the hydraulic drive would be more expensive, as you can control the speed of the raking independent of the tractor ground speed.
