This pic of my favorite alfalfa hay rake. It is acually two implements making one. With twin wheels on either end it seldom bottoms out do to a dead furrow.
Two gears forward windrow, one reverse tedder.
It isn't speedy but it suits me.
Would appreciate basic identity and copy of an operators manuel?

Have one in the junk pile and know where several more are, in their day they were the best on the market. However the gearbox is the weak link. they also tender to make hay into ropes.

Well Fern, you've got the basic identity. A-C called it a PTO Rake/Tedder. No model number until the later version that they called the 7, which had two input shafts on gearbox. You moved PTO shaft from one to the other. One speed rake, one speed ted. The front wheel was also mounted behind the basket on the 7, instead of ahead. There's a manual around here somewhere. If I find it to copy, I'll holler.

Tim - I was pleased to read that you might well have a manual for the A-C "7" rake. I've used one forever and would appreciate a copy if you're willing to do that. Please email me about it. Thanks.|:)| Rob

Extra front wheel came from older machine. Added it for trasversing dead-furrows. Seldom bottoms out. Backed off geared ratchet slip clutch. Gear box should hold up.
Originally both machines where wound tighter than a late train conductors watch.
This had not been problem had opperators dropped gear and slowed down. I can't hurry good alfafa hay making.
I use this machine olny for alfafa. I wont waste it on grass. got a couple of old dogs (IH & Case)good enough for that.

Thanks for the info. I have one of those rakes also. I never could find any ID on it. I would be willing to pay you to copy and mail me an operators manual also. I had to replace some of the spring teeth this last year...ouch. Anyone know a place to find a reasonable price on them?

Thanks, Ted

I have rusty extras from sacrificed machine. Suggest take one with ya. Try TSc for cheap replacements or check out Shoups. Shoups sell good long lasting long wearing replacement parts.
