Need suggestions for building my own sprayer

I need a herbicide sprayer for about 25 acres. Anyone have suggestions for building my own? Or would I be better off just prying open the wallet and buying one?

Try to buy a used one needing a little TLC. I got a JD 100 gallon at a sale a few years back for $315 with a like new pump. Last week a guy swapped me a 200 gallon JD trailer type for 2 Case DB fenders (needs pump and hoses).

If you want to use Glyphosate ( e.g. Roundup )in your sprayer, do not use a steel tank.

best bet would be to get a cheap used one and fix/modify/update to suit your needs. I'm building a small one for about 5 acres but my tanks and pump were free so all I need is lines and nozzles and boom and most importantly TIME. good luck

I went thru this a few years back. Thought it would be easy and cheaper. When I priced the tank, pump, fittings, etc I found out that the ones at TSC were a bargain.

Check with local herbicide/equipment dealers for catalogs from mfrs- they detail the components you need and the layout. Spraying Systems is a major supplier- website? You'll need at least a tank, pump, regulator, pressure gauge, nozzles, agitator, valves. Pump style (roller, centrifugal) depends on herbicides to be used, as well as volume and pressure.

I build my own sprayer about 3 years ago, it suits me well. Made like a trailer, with 2-55 gallon drums monuted to it. A buddy of mine was junking one, so I took what I wanted. I should have alittle under $100 in mine. It can spray 20 foot at a time & the 8N is all I need to power it. I might have the drawings for it laying around if you want to take a glance at it.

Jack,
I used to build my own sprayers but I think today you can buy one for just about the same cost of building, maybe even a little less. Are you wanting a 3 point mounted sprayer? They have these at tractor supply and other farm stores pretty reasonable and would probably be just the ticket for your small acreage. Good Luck!

I have a old sprayer.
You can have it for $150.00
I have not used it in years, it will take
a little work to get it going. It has the pump
that fits on the pto. Just need to replace some of the lines, and hook it back up.
It did work good when I used it.

Thanks for the offer and the price is certainly reasonable. Unfortunately I live in southwestern Colorado and NE Wisconsin is a bit too much of a haul.
