Studies by major universitys indicate that there is little or nothing to be gained by use of this piece of equipment. Common sense would indicate that this must help but university studies disagree. Please check the ag department at your local university before you spend to much on this type of equipment. Just be aware..... ....

I've heard it said before that nothing is gained with one of these. We have about 275 glently rolling ground that is cropped(no-til), another 55 that is sloped and is permanent hay fields and 165 that is steep permanent pasture.I like to run the Aer Way over the ground in the fall before appling lime or fertilizer. I feel it helps collect fall rain water as well as place the lime and fertilizer in the ground. I've also used it before interseeding clover in pasture and hay.

Under these circumstances I don't see how it can't help. But thats just our opinion...

Having worked directly in University field research, I have come to realize that some researchers and their methods are of dubious nature. I don't always trust what the "experts" have to say anymore.

We bought an older used one five years ago. We were told to measure from the tip of the spike to the base. New, the spikes should be eight inches and should be replaced before they reach five inches. Ours measured 7 11/16th inches when we got it. They measure 7 9/16th inches now and we run it over approx. 120 acres a year. Our Aer Way is 12 ft. and our ground is not rocky.
