Have a chance to go look one over up north. Weren't they built for Deere? Are they any good and can parts be had thru a Deere Dealer? Anything special I should look for? The seller sounds motivated and I think I can get a good price, but I'm not sure what a good price is...

Van Brunt Manufacturing of Horicon Wisconsin became a Deere division way back in the 20s. Parts can still be had for JD/Van Brunt B and FB drills, not sure about pre-WWII machines, though.

Well Tim(nj), Thank you! I think you've answered everything I've ever put out here. You sure seem to have the background on all this equipment. Do you farm back there?

Yep. I farm a few acres. Inherited my grandfather's old stuff back in 1992. I try to keep some of it going, that's how I pick up a lot of this information, looking for parts and help (I have an FB drill, and bought parts this past spring new from a JD dealer). Unfortunately, some of the old stuff gets to the point where it needs replacement. So I've got some machines in service that are 10-20 years old, and some that are 40+ years old.

Have a Van Brunt horse drawn drill with wooden grainbox and the rest is steel. I think it is still workable in excellent condition. What is something like this worth? Anybody know?

I also just got a VanBrunt drill, horse drawn, wood box and wheels, the inside workings are pretty rusty and some broken. Any idea of value or any comments?
