Yep, you read it right. Anybody ever see what kind of machine it takes to bale up pine straw? All the nursuries and home improvement centers sell pine straw in bales. We've all seen the old balers used to bale hay into rectangles. What kind of machine does it take to be able to bale pine straw? Is it a 3-point implment? If so, does it run off the pto? How big is it? How much do they cost? Can a big atv pull it? Thanks!

Keith

Keith, I saw one last october at the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie,Ga. It was about 4 or 5 feet long and 2 feet wide. It had it's own
engine (about 8hp) and four wheels. It could be pulled with most any lawn tractor or atv
to the pine trees, but the pine straw is fed by hand like a chipper/shredder. The bales were small but would be easy for
the average home owner handle.

Yep I have seen them but nothing fancy like you are thinking. The one I saw was just a simple box made out of 1"x4" lumber. It was about 24-32" long, 12" deep and 18-24" wide. One side was left open so the straw could be packed into the box and then tied with bailing twine. Hope this helps . Tim
