I am interested in information pertaining to the possible cultivators that could fit on a 52 JD A? Had one in the 70's but cannot remember what the model number, or letter was! It did run off of the power trol, & was somewhat aggrevating to hook up I remember! All help very appreciative; Thanks!!!

I had a 400 cultivator on my A for a while but then I got ahold of a 40 cultivator and that one was better to get down to 30" rows with because the rigs in by the tractor were curved in so the beams were under the tractor frame. My 52 A has a wide front and the quick atatch wasn't so quick.

I know ours was a 400, not a 40, but it also had the curved rigs next to the tractor.

We had a model 400 4 row on the 1950 JD "A" for several years. As Greywolf said, I put more hours on it than I care to imagine. For there it went on the 1956 "60" with power steering. Better. Later in went on the 1960 "730". Much better. With the Quick-Tach and narrow front, they are not that hard to put on or take off. Wide front is a little more of a challenge, but still not that bad. Usually takes 2 people, instead of 1 to do it. Loren

Not sure on the 2 row model, but the 400 was the number for the 4 row wide unit.

I've gone over way too many acres using that cultivator.

Worst was, my dad set the disks 2" tighter on the "sight" row, and if ANY crop suffered cultivator blight, there was h*ll to pay that night.

Got 3 of em in the grove as we speak.
