would like to know the in and outs. is it a good baler? not worth the hassle?

found one for sale and it really looked in good condition. the individual selling it said a belt needs replacing on the bottom.

any wisdom would be appreciated

The 1400 is not an open throat baler. We have a neighbor that has one. Doesn't make very tight bales and is Pain to bale with unless the hay is perfect. It would certainly get you by for awhile, however after a couple of years you would probably want an open throat baler anyway. You would probably be better off buying one now. I'm not that familiar with Gehl balers as I am with Vermeer balers. I'm not sure if it was the 1460 or 1465 where Gehl started with the open throat. Perhaps someone else would know.
