A friend suggested that I look at a Vermeer 504 Super I as a good reliable round baler. I would be pulling with a 52 hp tractor. What are the specs. for this baler? Hard or soft core? What size bales?Open throat? How reliable?Min hp required? What would be an average value of one of these balers in good, field ready shape? Thanks -Don

If you will look at the serial # plate and either above or below it will be stamped the year of production. The early super I balers did not have the spiral roller. If you want to bale haylage the spiral roller I balers do a little better. average value is $5,000 - 8,000 for East TN

Makes a 5' diameter by 4' wide up to around 1200 with the Hyd. density system. Hard Core, Open throut. They are great balers. I hated to see Vermeer stop making them.
