The universal joint on the side opposite of the gear box needs replacing. Just wondering how it come's apart. Are there snap rings holding it in on the inside of the caps? The one's I've seen had the snap rings on the outside of the caps and you remove the rings and the u-joint comes out. Anyone change a universal joint on a NH hay rake?

Matthew

Matthew,
Are you talking about the u-joints on the driveshaft between the wheels? If so when I tried to get them for my 56 rake one time as I recall you couldn't get the u-joints separately. I had to buy the whole yokes and all adn was really not a bad deal. I'll be posting a pic of my rakes when I'm done with them, they are getting a full paint job and one is getting full tine bar bearing change. Looking good so far!

Matthew, the snap rings are internal. If you do replace it while the yokes are still on the rake, let me know. I would like to congratulate anyone good enough to replace ujoints without removing them from the machine first. It is possible, but it takes a real man. I guess I am not a real man. Have fun, Steve
