IH Little Genius 2 bottom plow on rubber QUESTION

I recently purchased a no. 8 IH Little Genius plow at an auction. I believe it was produced around 1948. It is on rubber tires. All the tires were flat. The front two are 6.00X16. These are no problem to get. But, the rear tire is a 3.50x12. I have tried all the tire dealers I can think of in the phone book. They all laugh at me and say good luck. Were do you all get your hard to find tires for old farm implements? What is the best tire pattern for all the tires?

Thanks

Firestone had a 3.5-12 two rib plow tire in their catalog a year or two ago. Check the Firestone Tire company website at www.firestoneag.com

My Dad ran a snow tire on the trip wheel of his lil' genius so it wouldn't slide on damp ground when he wanted to trip it.

An exact rayon replacement may well be impossible to find for a 'period perfecrt' restoration. But a 3.5 X 12 tire is common with lawn equipment and small trailers. Check out Tractor Supply or any like supplier. Tom S.

I have tried Tractor Supply. All they have is a 4.00X12. The rim is only a 2.5X12. 3.5" is probably pushing the limit, a 4" would probably be too wide.

Any hints on colors on this implement? It looks like it might have been blue. The rims on the front seem to be red. The rim on the rear seems to have been silver. Does this seem correct?

Thanks

Brian, If you can find the Ertl model, it has the correct colors.

Don't think so, but I'm not up on earlier colors. Later colors seem to be cream for the rims, blue for the hubs and bottoms and colters, and some hitch parts, red for mostly everything else. My rollover has blue on some frame parts as well, but I don't know if that's original or not.
