I was looking at a M&W model 4500 round baler. I have a local dealer for parts. How good are these balers? Thanks, Don

wolfy sez not many parts, jim says lots, um--- dont' know MW balers but compared to what. It takes a heck of a baler to make a bale that cows can't get apart with 55hp.

Excellent baler. Will bale anything-even light, short third cutting. The bales hold their round shape forever-you can roll them way next April. You can, if you're not careful, make them so tight that cows sheer hay off til the bale looks like the edge of a Bible. These balers have a lot less moving parts and take VERY little horsepower to run.

I have one and it works great. It makes a four by five bale. I have very little problems with it I bought it used. I would buy another without any reservations. It is simple to operate is well built. And my 55 Hp handles it just fine.

These are soft core balers meaning that they don't start packing untill you get a full bale and then you better have some HP. Also you will not be able to bale a piece of a bale. Not good for peanut hay, OK for grass. A lot of moving parts. Personally I don't much care for these types of balers. But if you have good dealer support and it fits your operations it might be a good choice for you.
