There was indeed a #15 1-row mounted, basically half of a #25. I have a book by Dave Arnold, called Vintage John Deere. Published by Barnes and Noble in 1996. On page 73, it shows a 1939 A from both sides with a #15 mounted. I can't scan it, violation of copyright law.

I always heard the John Deere one row mounted pickers, called a 101. Dad had one mounted on a 1941 B John Deere. He purchased the picker around 1949. Until then, he and my mother picked corn by hand. So,the picker was a big step forward. I think it made the tractor a little harder to guide due to the weight and offset design of the picker.

To add to the above comments, I am certain, the picker dad owned, wasn't just a snapper. It removed the husks from the ear and as I remember left well cleaned ear of corn.

101 did indeed have the husking bed, the 100 was just a snapper.

When I was growing up on the farm (55 years ago), our neighbor had an unstyled JD 'B' with a fully mounted one row corn picker. It had the snouts on one side of the tractor. I don't know what the model number was. We had to go through the field and pick one or two rows by hand to 'open up the field' (my dad would not tolerate driving over one row and breaking it down).

My dad had the elevator and hoist so the two of them always picked corn together. The neighbor later got a new styled JD 'B' and a semi-mounted one row picker.

I have some 1940's John Deere pocket record books somewhere (just moved), and they have pictures of that corn picker along with the semi-mount model.

The diagram shown below is the semi-mount model.

Hope this sheds a little light on the subject.

I own a couple of these JD 100 Quik-Tach one-row Corn snappers. It says it fits the JD A, B, G, 50, 60, 70, 40, MT, M, Farmall H, C, and super C, Ford, Ferguson, and, Allis WD.

127, fits most later 2 cylinder plus new generation plus IHC, AC, MH, MM, Oliver Ford, earliest 1 row mounted was a No. 15 and had a wheel to help cary it, then the 100, 101 1 row semi-mount that would work with any tractor with a PTO then the 18, a 1 row pultype and a 1 row pultype made at the same time as the 15, need any more info?
