I pulled a plow out of the woods a while back to see if i could adapt any part to a 3pt config.
Well it had jd printed on the side so i figured I would try and find out what if was before I did anything drastic. I will try to describe it and if any one can help indentify I would greatly
appreciate it. It's about 12' long has 2 bottom plows with coulters, a spring/pental type hitch
hookup and Two 10 spoke wheels. It has a couple of levers on top for raising and lowering--it looks like one for each wheel. Every thing turns freely and the levers seem to work. I don't have a scanner available to get a picture but is there any one in the jd world who knows what kind of plow this and what it might bw worth intact?

Hard to tell w/o pic, but could be a 4A. I'd leave it just the way it is, especially if everything is there and working. The only thing witht these plows is finding the wear parts. Those long-nose shares and related parts are hard to find and when you do find them, get ready to empty your wallet! I know the later 44 plow can have its frogs changed to the "high-speed" type frogs that JD used on plows in the 50s and 60s, allowing you to use throw-away shares, shins, moldboards, landsides, etc. that are readily available from aftermarket suppliers. I'm not sure if the same can be done with a 4A though.
