I am getting a pretty good price for scrap right now the yard says it won't last long though. My fear is all the old equipment that could be used that is going to get cut up. But with auction prices being low I do not blame them. Example I had a very good 6-30 cultivator that I wanted $100 for advertised it locally for 3 years, took it to a consignment auction and it got a $35 bid, hauled it home, last week i took it apart and got $90 at scrap yard and I kept the beam and 3pt.

I called a scrapper yesterday about the old cars I have here,, he said scrap is up, but didnt give a price, he will give me a qoute when the snow is gone,,,Jim

i scrapped a c 3 gleaner combine a while back minus the motor with a 4 row corn head i got 150.00

We get practically nothing for scrap compared to some of you. beside our shop we have a big scrap box and it is usually filled with brake rotors, axles, muffler and pipes. We can't get any scrap dealer to take it away for free, they say it isn't worth thier time to load it and truck it into the city to the recyclers. I know old mufflers and pipes are the worst scrap but there will be hundreds of pounds of brake rotors and no one will do it. About two years ago we used to have three scap dealers come and load it up now no one will. I took 1450 lbs and 8 car batteries to a recycler and got a cheque for $34...now I know why...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Michael: You will not be a man of means long doing that. I think one of the biggest problems with recycleing is certain individuals in certain areas want the whole loaf. I remember the Nova Scotia government put incentive dollars into recycleing. They though it would inspire industrious entreprenures to help clean up some unsightly real estate. Those same certain individuals wanted that also.

$5.50 a 100lbs in Bryan, TX for short iron. Heard of a guy that cut up a big tank in 3'x3' squares and they gave him $6.50 because he had so much. Price increases by the amount you bring also.

Just checked prices yesterday at the local yard. $100/t for 3 foot, $65/t unprepared, $110/t #1 cast, And $55/t car bodies. Hauled out over 22 ton last part of 03. Wish I waited but then again now would have dug it ouot of the snow. Still got more to go though.

I think the closer you are to a Great Lakes or Ocean port, the more the scrap will bring. Chinese ore and scrap ships are docking all over. Our own US Navy is cutting up mothballed ships in Philadelphia, Norfolk and Bremerton. I'm sure this steel is going to China. Hopefully it won't come back again in the form of bombs like when we sold scrap to Japan before WWII.

135.00 a ton ! Wish it was like that here. Bought a small farm a few years ago and I am still "harvesting " iron. Just about have it all collected in an area by a road. I plan on giving it to a junk dealer if they will come and get it ALL.
Anyone want a New Idea 2 row corn picker that has been sitting in the wedds for about 10 years or so. Fits on an M Farmall. Free if you come and get it soon. Would like to see someone get some good out of it.

Where at? I will haul a load,, everywhere I have found in Mich or Wis offers 10 bucks a ton for mixed scrap.(that includes farm equipment) unless you cut them up it isnt worth hauling cause ya cant haul much,,,,Jim
