New Holland 255 Rake/tedder

I purchased a used one today and was wondering what some of you people thought of this machine. To me it looks very well built compared to the Deutz-Fahr machine that I currently own. Interested to see if there are some things that I should watch for while operating this unit.

I just sold my 254 a few days ago as I replaced it with a Pequea HR10 rotary rake and a JD 752 tedder. 255 is an improvement over the 254 as it has bearings on the arms instead of plastic bushings. It's a decent rake and tedder for a combination machine. Don't turn it too fast or it will knock the leaves off of alfalfa. My only complaint was it was difficult to double windrow light hay as the windrow is placed at the center. Pequea rake is built like a tank, JD tedder, same as NH, both made by Kuhn in France is very light weight.

David is 110% correct. Nice machine, but do not turn it faster than necessary. 250 to 300 RPM's are plenty. It is not built like a tank. However, as David said, they better than the 254. Steve
