If anyone has experience with using a 3 point dirt scoop (like KingKutter sells), I'd appreciate your opinion(s) about its usefullness.

I have used one quite a bit, they are handy. You can't use one in every situation, but there are times when they are your best solution.

I used mine mounted on a tractor with a front end loader. I could get allot done with that combination!

I use one alot. Move dirt to build up low areas around my place. Pretty slow with as much dirt as I need to move but it gets the job done and I'm in no hurry. I use a box blade with the scrafiers (spelling) to break up the ground some, switch to the scoop and then just scoop it up. By breaking it up with the box blade, it's easier on tractor and scoop to get a bucket full.
good luck,
mike

I had one that worked pretty well until I tried to move some dirt that was frozen. My tractor had too much 3-point lift capability and bent the scoop frame into a pretzel. It was my mistake. It actually works well if used within its limits.

Very useful thing. Pay for itself in an afternoons work. Easy to use once you get the nack of it. Good when moving material from a pile or taking material from flat areas. Get one of the reversable kind. One area of caution:when backing into a pile it takes quite a bit if force to break the scoop load loose and your tractor may want to flip backwards so take care untill you get a good feel for it. They are also good for toting your fence building materials and wood cutting things around in.

best 3-pt mounted scoop made is the "gnuse scoop" made in arlington, nebraska. built really strong, and it dumps, or you can use it to push/haul snow dirt, manure, tree brush, up root trees as bid around as 6-8 inches, i had a hd5 loader and i could dig stumps out faster with the rear scoop. "gnuse manufac" phone # is (402)478-4433. they come in lots of sizes. i've had mine now for about 10 years, use it all the time. they put a grader blade on the cutting edge, it will peel ice right off cement!!
