I am looking for technical information on Planet Jr. seeders. I have searched the arcives and it sounds like Powell/Cole has stopped making them and was looking to sell the design. Has this happened? Is there any where on the web to download a manual? I found a couple of links for a PDF of the manual but it was on Powells' page, which is gone.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chuck

What model Planet Jr do you have? We have instructions on several models and parts list on most. We have many parts and manufacture seed plates for the 300A also make new oak handles for the push seeders and cultivators.

I have had a hard time finding information on them too. Jake Jordan told me that they were going to quit making them.

The seeding chart on the hopper lid is :
beans 38 6 per foot
beets 22 22/
cabbage 5 31/
carrot 8 29/
kale 4 16/
kohlrabi 6 19/
peas 38 15/
radish 13 28/
spinach 12 10/
turnip 1 18/

The following is a list of settings that I use:
carrots 6-7
pak choi 5
tat soi 4
mustard 6
kale 8
mizuna 7
turnip 4
spinach 12
beets 14-15
radishes 12
rapini 5
arugula 5

The wheel is 4 feet around and the only way to be sure that you are getting the right number of seeds per foot is to turn the wheel, catch the seeds, and count them. Big seeds like peas and beans do not get planted deep enough.

Johnny's in Maine had parts, but now I see that they are not listing them anymore.

Thanks for the information. You said that peas and beans don't get planted deep enough, what do you use for those?

Chuck, I sent this message as an email, but it didn't go through.
I too am looking for information and parts list for the Planet Jr. seeder. I wish someone could upload a copy that we could down load. A seed plate chart would be nice to view. After many dead-ends, I found a company called :
Market Farm Implement>Link
No email address but phone # is: 1-814-443-1931
I tried to call the other day .... got answering machine ... tried to leave message but got cutoff by machine before I could leave my number... haven't had a chance to call back. I plan to try again . I would be happy to share with you any leads on parts, manuals, etc... if you are interested. I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to share same with me. I am located 50 miles northwest of Seattle, Washington. Not much farming left around here. Hope to hear from you soon.

I found the Market Farm site the other day. Found another site last night with an email and I sent one. I'll have to check when I get home to see if I get any responce. If you email me, click on my name, and then delete the 'NOSPAM' from the address that comes up.

I'll gladly email or post any info I come accros, but so far I havn't got much to show.

Thanks, I'll have to check on the model number. The seeder is actually my neighbors. He is a 'truck' farmer and I work on his equipment in exchange for vegetables. It is actually a 3 row (or 3 units) mounted on the tool bar of an Allis G.

10-4 Chuck anytime

I can't think of the model of the small one but a 3 row Cole could be either the 12X or the other one. Some truck farmers put up to 6 of either model of them.

Both series are small and lightweight enough that a smaller tractor could handle that many of either.

Good luck and if you nedd a copy just holler. Jerry
