For NHBalerman, Sir I remember you were very helpful when I had questions about a NH 80 baler a couple years ago. Well I have so much fun with that old girl, I've found a model 1282 900 miles away that I'm consideering adding to my small operation. Can you tell me the width /length/ weight of a 1282? Any way to transport other than flat bed truck? Could it be taken apart to load on a pickup pulled trailer? Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks Dick Davis

I would have to get out my book to get the exact measurements but I bought mine about 300 miles from home and we went with a goose neck trailer that was 8ft wide and 24 ft. long and got down in a ditch so it wasn't as steep and drove it up on the trailer. The tires would fit just fine but some of the sheet metal would hang over just a little but was no problem. Be sure that you check the big pulleys on the variable speed drive if they are worn you can't get the big belt adjusted right and it will break the belt-expensive- We restored mine and have a lot of fun running it. If you look over in the implement photos,I think that Daddy put a picture of it in there. Hope this helps

Thanks Balerman, I would appreciate your checking your manual for exact measurments and weight. I'm considering hiring the beast hauled and want as much detail as possible before I negotiate. Are parts available anymore? Why did you convert to twine? How difficult was that to accomplish? Thanks in advance for your help. Dick Davis

Yes there are a lot of parts available, I switched to twine because that is all that we use here and it wasn't hard to do I guess the hardest part was finding a twine box and finally had to have one made as close to original as possible. Don't worry about the banana bales that people talk about there is away to fix this problem and I guarantee that they will be square as any other baler because I have fixed several balers and they all work great on mine and the balers that I have fixed for other people at least that is what they have reported,so if I can be of any help just let me know.
