I have a Shafer disc that is missing a gang. It is a tandem 10' wide. The other gangs are stamped H601. Does anybody have a gang for it, is it worth fixing, or should I just sell it as scrap metal? Any opinions are welcome.

We had a Schafer one-way disc plow on our farm. While the design wasn't the best, I remember it as being a heavily built plow.

Before selling it for scrap, you might consider using the remaining gangs to build three 3 point mounted one-ways.

Schafter items were manufactured at Pratt, Kansas.
There is an old implement trader/dealer there by the name of Carter Barker. Since he advertises in public newspapers with classifieds on line, I'm guessing that it is all right to give his name.

He has a lot filled with old, near junk items as well as newer items. He sometimes advertises a few odd parts to sell such as shanks of various kinds.
You might try getting a gang from him. He might at least know someone that has one for sale.
