How to transport a land roller

I have a land roller that is about 12 ft wide total and it weighs about 3000# I have it on the trailer up on top of the rails and it is hanging out enough that I can not see out my mirrors,if I put wheels on the top and flip it over and then pull it down the hifgway would this work and can it be flipped over on some wheels. My tractor want pick it up so I can put it in the trailer length ways,How do yall move a roller from one field to the next? Thanks

This won't solve your width problem, but I made a special trailer to haul my 8' on. The trailer frame dipped down in front of it's axle so it was only about a foot off the ground. I made the hitch pole very short, about a foot. I backed the roller over the trailer hitch until it was against the frame that stuck up in front of the wheels, and then jacked up the trailer pole and chained it to the roller hitch pole. My roller was made out of an old smooth water tank so this may not work for you.

Tom: I agree with del, I have backed many a land rolled, grain drill, gandy fert spreaders, etc. on over the side of a trailer or wagon. Even with car haulers just place a 6x6 block under your plank so it will clear wheels and fender. Most places of loading you can find a curb, ditch, roadside, etc. to avoid backing up a steep slope.

You should also consider that in most jurisdictions it is illegal to haul a load on a trailer over width if it can be put on trailer another way and be under width.

If it's a short trip I just hook to it and head up the road. Between farms I'll push it up a couple heavy planks onto a flat bed hay wagon. Useless it came with transport wheels adding wheels won't work very well. The steel packer wheels are made to run on the groung with the weight on the ground. If you put wheels on it and flip, all the weight is on the bearings, the axle, and the end plates. If you hit a bump or a chuck hole a lot of stress is put on parts that aren't made to handle it. Usually the ones with the transport wheels have heavier frames, axles,and bearings. Also they usually have one or two bearings and supports than one of the same lenght without transport wheels.

Wish I knew!! I got one I paid for sitting in OH and me in FL. Most haulers want $400 and up to move it. I know they need to make a living to but I was hoping to have it moved space available.

I like Tim's idea but I think the DOT between here and OH would have something to say :)
