Lookin at a used vermeer 605H baler or a green JD 535 baler which one will last after I replace a few pickup teeth and a belt or two bearings here or there---or Hopefully not a gearbox or hydralic system ..just the normal things on a baler ???

I ran a 1560 Massey(605F Vermeer) when I started baling and it baled pretty good. Traded it in on a Deere 530 3 seasons later and have not been sorry. Parts are high but they are high for all colors. I lean towards green!

I think Vermeer 605H and Massey Ferg. 1455 are same machine.

A Massey 1455 would be a 504H Vermeer.

I bought a used 605 H 3 years ago and it has served me well. I bought it mainly due to dealer support and also aftr looking at several other brands, liked the Vermeer as a simple and stout machine.

We've got 2 of them. An old 605F and going strong. A newer 54silage. Theolld one has had its problems a couple times, but easy to fix. The new one hasn't dulled yet, but built plenty heavy enough I expect to go the long haul. Durability and dealer support sold us on the second unit. Now, If I could just find that 2or3 fingered 12' auger for our Hesston 500 self propelled hay conditioner, within a reasonable distance, I'll be in hay-maker's heaven.

I am baised towards Vermeer as you probably know. I would look at dealer support in your area. I don't know where you are but a lot of Vermeer dealers will go the extra mile for you. Keep in mind that the Vermeer does not need the diamond tread on the belts to start a bale and the JD does. Good luck with whatever you choose
