Just looked at ebay, there is a PT 10 with a minimum of $2599.00. I just bought a real clean one for $350.00. If he sells that one, MINE IS FOR SALE!!!

I think that minimum is a little high. OK, very high. We bought our first PT10 from a dealer about 15 years ago for $1,500. Last year I picked up a good one for $325. I've been able to get parts machines for under $200. I personally think most people don't know about them as much as NH, JD or IH so they don't command as high prices.

I was given a Case 555, (Heston PT10) and it looked like new,, used it 2 seasons and broke a roller,, bought another 555 for 200 bucks,, there are 2 versions of the Pt 10,,I have had both one has the cylinder under the machine and uses a rubber band looking belt on a gearbox above the rollers..this one sucks,,the other has the cylinder on top of the machine and doesnt use that crappy rubberband,and is the same as the Case 555,which do you have???? The easiest way to tell the difference between the two styles of PT-10 is that the older one has the PTO shaft running OVER the tongue of the machine, and the later style has the shafting going THROUGH the tongue. The 555 Case is the late style. There were two versions of the newer style, but the difference was in the reel drive chain, they both use 4 rib powerband belts.

As I said, I have had both versions,, and Heston cant take the version with the bottom mount cylinder (it snagged hay and dragged it) and the lil rubber band belt in a godawful place and cram it ...I really like my Case 555 and the Pt10 I had that was just liek it,,I can pull it in 4th with my H and I couldnt do that with the other one,,I had to use 2nd .and dont even get me started on the Pt7 I had..... My opinion,..Jim
