I have an AC WD45 that runs great. I have a C&D Implement 3-pt hitch on it. I need a good 2 bottom plow for it to turn heavy clay sod. Any suggestions as to what is a good brand and model?
Thanks.

A WD45 can pull a 3 bottom plow in most conditions and some times a 4 bottom plow so I think that a 2-16 would be a cake walk even in heavy sod. I would make sure the plow was a trip bottom incase you snag a rock or tree root. A rear depth control wheel is great to have if available. If your serious about plowing I would stay away from the light duty plows like TSC sells and buy a brand that you can get parts for locally.

How many hp is a WD45??? Around here we need 20 hp per bottom, more in alfalfa ground, so I'd not be looking for a 4 bottom! :)

Look for an IH 400-series 3-pt. (I think that's the number) They were made from 1974 or so to the mid 90's. Parts are no problem, and they are well-made. I think the 420 was the lighter duty, the 440 was the medium-duty tripback, and the 450 was the heavy-duty auto-reset. I have seen 450 plows in 3 and 4 bottom sizes, and 440 plows in 2, 3, and 4 bottom sizes. I have never seen a 420 in person, but have seen pictures of 2 and 3 bottom machines.

John Deere plows are also fairly easy to get parts for, but the older models (like my 416)have reputations for plugging in trashy ground. The last 3-pt. tripback Deere made was the 1000, I believe, going out of production around 1992.
