There are replacement feeder tines that are larger; I replaced mine and it works much, much better now...I also had replaced the drive chain as well, but I"m sure the tines are what did it.

I have had mine for years, bought it for 50 bucks, it had a bent knotter shaft when I bought it so I rebuilt the knotters using old used parts I got for free,, it has been trouble free all the time,, I have sheared a few pins though. i find it works best in heavy hay,, it doesnt like to run without the pickup clear full.,it seems that when the hay is light it doesnt work as good,,,I am going to use a JD 24T a lil this year to give my old NH a rest,it has earned a break,, I use my Farmall H to run the NH so it is a easy one to run,,,,Jim

The dredded Bannana bales :-(
NH balers like to make Bannana's for some reason.
I have been lucky with my NH68 it makes good square bales in all hay.
1st off make sure you have nice big wind rows.
2nd make sure you are running so the wind row runs as close to the plunger side of the pick up as you can get.
3rd insure that your tension is correct on both sides.
4th if that does not work. Check to see if the little plate is still attached to the top of the feed chamber next to the plunger area. Looks like a tryangle. I dont know what this does but seems to be important.
5th you can adjust the feeder tines. You can move them left or right depending on where you want more hay to end up. The manual tells what direction for what side of bale.
My 68 has a extra set of feeder tine. 3 sets as opposed to 2 sets. The previous ownwr must have added them to push more hay into the plunger. Works so I am not messing with that set up.
Hope this helps.
