I picked up this IH Little Genius 12" plow recently. I have never seen any shares like the ones that are on it. Are they rare?
Thanks.

You guys are on the right track. These are called sod cutter or fin cutter shares, as the name impleys they were for sod and trash. They also saved you shins, were first used on horse drawn plows, walking, sulky and gang types. The first tractor plows(Up in to the 40s.) used the same bottoms as horse plows and these points were also used on them.

These points are in the Parts Catalog for the No 2, 4, 8 tractor plows, and sulky or gang plows. They have a "K" in the suffix of the part number. Possible part numbers are 201-8KDS, 315-10KDS, OR 321-10KDS. Can you give me a part number off the point or mouldboard.

The way it looks to me is the former owner had some old one piece plow shares left over from the old horse plows. They had shares like that shape. He just jury rigged them up to fit this plow. Alvin

Maybe your right Alvin, that would make sense that the shares are from an old horse drawn plow.

That looks like the cutter on the horse drawn walking plow and like those shares are as he said

Dan: I do notice also there are no coulters on the plow. It also looks as though those shares are designed for plowing without coulters. Hard to tell from picture, are the share, shin and that vertical blade all one piece? My thoughts are, it must be after market as I don't recall seeing it in manual. Could it even be a local fabrication?
