Just bought a MF 1560 hay baler today was wondering what kind of advice anyone had about it. I was looking on the internet at a vermeer 605 baler and it is the same baler as mine! Was wondering who actually made it. I have always heard that there are only a few baler manufactorers they just paint them different colors.

The 1560 was made from 1980-1986. It is basically a Vermeer 605G with a red paint job. Like marlowe said, you are better off going directly to Vermeer to get parts. It should be a real good baler. They were open throat design and will really gobble hay. They were built good & heavy and didn't really have any big problems.

made by vermeer and they made a lot of them but all vermeer parts fit and are cheeper only thing is they will be yellow. we had a 450 and 1560 and did custom work and paid for both in one year and just sold them last spring had them for 20 some years and repair cost was nill. only thing is hay MUST be dry and nice big wind rows and go like Hel-

Why does the hay have to be dry when the vermeer website say they can bale at any moisture content - even silage?? Have you ever heard of a PZ hay baler? German I think made by Zewger or something? Any way they are a vermeer type design and they had a version with three rollers in the bottom with a gap between the front roller and the belts - they were supossed to start better. After all, the starting is the only problem, once the bale has started, the hay is being sucked in anyway? I want to modify a vermeer or massey to have these three rollers in the bottom. May be with an extra wide pickup and a john deere style rotor feeder with converging augers. Let me know your views. How fast could you bale once the core was started? how heavy was the crop (bales/acre)? You obvious experience has got me wondering what you'll think.

Thanks
