Does anyone have any info on Snapper pickers? I've found one listed in an local Ag paper. I would like know manufactuer, parts availability, performance etc.

Years ago there was a corn picker call g i or general implement it was a snapper no husking bed. Not much of a picker but maybe made for picking sweet corn.

The GI picker was also famous for hands, arms and sometimes legs.

A snapping roll picker is just that, the 2 rollers pull thestalk right through until itcomes to the cob and then it snaps the cob off,you sometimes get a bit of butt shelling in that process,whereas a snapper unit has 2 bars above the rolls which are deeply fluted and the bars do the snapping when the cob is pulled right down, not the rollers.It works well with sweetcorn & popcorn.

If you find a New Idea 309, it's the same snout as your 323 but with no husking bed, only a cross conveyor to the wagon elevator. Most snapper-type pickers are going to use the old style rollers. If you went with a sweet-corn harvester, that would give you the stripper plates, but older 1-row sweet corn machines still go for $4000 in my part of the country. You better have a good profit margin on your popcorn. If I had the time, I'd build my own picker. New Holland had a 2-row stripper-plate style snapper head for their pull-type silage choppers so you could do high-moisture ear corn silage. I'd take one of those heads and mate it up with the frame and husker unit of my old New Idea 311 two-row picker, but with all the other projects that are on my list, I don't dare to even start on something like that.

we all need a little more info, snapper is not the name brand of the picker is it ? it is the type of picker. it just snaps the ear of corn ,does not husk it. depending on what brand it is parts might still be available.

I would think they were talking about the old picker without any husking bed. that is what is called a snapper. You can't buy parts anymore.
