compost turner

I have a windrow 12' wide by 6' high by 75' long. It takes half a day to turn it with the loader. Has anyone successfully built a compost turner? If so, where did you find the plans, How big of a motor / tractor are you using to run it ? Any tips ?

we use a Sandberger pull type. best with a hydro tractor. they're about 14000. new i think

Several turkey farms have them around here. They start with turkey litter and round bales. This turner sits off to one side and pulls a water trailer behind it. If you want I can find out the company that makes them.

I seem to remember seeing one at the California Farm Equipment Show in Tulare in 1996.

Cities and commercial enterprises use them. As I recall they look similar to a giant roto-tiller.
Some I've seen photos of are mounted on a boom. Others similar to a moldboard on a motorized grader that stradles the pile.

I guess you might expect the rest of us to be a little jealous of anyone that has that much compost.
