Have a bead on a NH 489 Mo/Co. The gearbox is shelled, needs to be replaced and the top roller is delaminated about 35%. Should the roller be replaced. Approximately how many shop hours and cost of parts should I expect. Does the top roller even need to be replaced. I appreciate your posts

Steve from New Holland is right. That is a parts machine. A new gearbox will cost you about $730.00. If the top roller is shot, you will have to replace both rollers to get it to work right. The last time I checked rollers were over $700 each, plus its a big job to do. Even if you did all the work yourself, it still wouldn't be worth it.

Hi Jim. I must tell you that the other 3 gentlemen that have replied up to this point are right on the money. That top roll is basicly worthless in that condition and with the bad gearbox..... In my opinion, that machine makes a nice parts machine. Steve

Forget using it with a 35% delaminated roll it'll just be one plug after another. The roll is about 700 dollar and having put 2 in I wouldn't do it for 7000. Do yourself a favor. Forget this unit..... .....Please!!!!! !!

At what they priced me a set of rollers for a 7' they'd have to pay me to take it. Around here I can buy 2 good ones or 3 that are decent for the price of a set of rollers.
