JD 14T 24T Questions

I have read in the archives that the JD 14T is aggrivating in that it has to many shear pins! There is one on the flywheel, pick-up, auger and on the needle lift. There was an option on the 14T to use a slip clutch on the pick-up and auger vs shear pins. My parts 14T baler has these installed.

The owners manual suggests that if you start breaking shear pins, it's time to slow down.

Sooo, my question is - should I retrofit my good 14T with slip clutches?

Also, how did the 24T come equiped? Did it have shear pins or slip clutches in these areas?

Lastly, has anyone used the pick-up wheel on their 14T or 24T? Is this a worthwhile option and are they still available?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I've had them with both and I liked the slip clutchs better the I did the pins. I also think you can still get that wheel since I know you can still get most of the parts for them. By the way do you want a couple more parts balers I have 2 and I know of another one
