We've used one for over 30 yrs. with no problems.Only failures was two worn out flywheel bushings,at appox. cost of 16.00 & a couple hours labor.Would highly reccommend it!

It is the exact same baler as a 270, save for the hitch - the 271 has a better hitch, with an extra flex in the pto driveline.

I have a 270, baled 2000-5000 bales a year for us since I was knee-high. That's 35 years or so. Very little problem with it ever, ties 497 bales out of 500 unless I'm doing something wrong. Dad & I are not known for good maintenence either, other than lots of grease.

They are a little slower than the newer balers, works well with a 35 hp tractor, won't bale any faster with an 85hp tractor.....

Also the 270 doesn't let the tractor get over to the left very far, a wide tractor will run on the windrow which is not good. Perhaps the 271 is better at this. Works great with an ICH 300 tho - need the right wheel all the way in. :)

It is an older baler, but in my opinion one of the best made. It has good capacity for a small baler, is very easy to work on, and pulls easily. I think it is one of the best and you won't go wrong with it.
