Feeding out high moisture hay what are cattle folks doing with their old plastc wrap? Is it recyclable?

It is, BUT they want me to wash it and bale it. Most of my neighbors burn theirs. It burns smoke free and takes about 2 salt sacks to get a 4 bale section going. After that it will support combustion.

Is that an inviromental safe thing to do. I've been bundling the stuff up and doing my part to build another land-fill park.

I dont think either burning or landfilling is environmentally safe, landfills here charge $100 to dump a pickup load. I'm just a 'pretend farmer', only have about 100 rolls of baleage plastic total this year to contend with. Next year I'm going to have a lot more of it though, would like to wrap half my hay. Guy next door to me has 3000 rolls of it.
