I own a JD 200A swather or windrower that I use for grass hay production. The chain drive for the reel is missing the tensioner, I use an oak block in its place. I'd like to know what the original tensioner looked like. I'm looking for anyone who may also have a John Deere 200A who might be willing to provide a few pictures

The 200A is not shown by JD to be a swather, windrower, or mower and the JD dealers can't provide a parts list or manual. Mine appears to be all orginal so I don't think it cobbed together from other equipment....I simply think it was one of the very early models that does not show up in their books. I have a parts list from the 215 windrower but it is not designed the same as the 200A.

Thanks Joe in Montana

I have a John Deere 200A swather. I just got it running and am planning to use it to cut hay soon. For the tensioner the one I think you are talking about I also have a block of wood. My guess would be that it either came with a gear for the tension or just the block.
