I am presently reworking the two bottom plow that came with this tractor from the dealer. It is 412 2 bottom plow. I was not sure of the shares, shins, or moldboards to replace the originals with. When I removed the moldboards and cleaned them up I read this stamped in the back. HS316 JD.

The operators manual to the 412 says that the plow should be a 2 bottom 14 max. Why does it have HS316 16 inch bottoms on it.

The only reference to the HS316 in the operators and parts book for the 412 calls it special bundle and it stands for high speed 16 inch.

If any of you guys have infomation to share on this subject it would be great.

Thanks,

Daniel

Those are high speed 16" bottoms. Parts are still available for them and not crazy expensive. I have been told that by putting 16" bottoms on a 14" frame you get more trash clearance but still turn a 14" furrow. I had a 412 plow a few years ago and it was a 12" plow frame.
