Would appreciate comments on these two balers. Years both were made and how they compare to each other. Also how many hps to run them. I have a JD 2010 to work with. Now the hard one what are they worth?

Bill; According to my gide book they are basically same strokes, etc. Basically same pickup width etc, the major diff is JD one is alot older (81-76) NH is (88-83). My preference in those years is Deere. Because of packer fork. You will have alot less trouble keeping hay to far side of chamber and alot less wear in feeding system. I have a freind who has a Jd 346 for sale. He is askin $3500.00.another fellow has a NH 276 for sale asking $1750.00 I also have a fellow who has a IH 37 new knotters for $1100.00. Just some figures to maybe use. I had a Jd327 very nice one sold for $3200.00. I went to larger capacity one. Let me know. Rick located in southeast Iowa

Rick--A friend of mine just bought a 328 with the short tongue and 2 joint pto. This looks like it would be hard to turn without getting the tractor tire into the pickup. Have you seen one of these? I just bought a 316. Both balers are in good shape, we both paid the same for them. The 316 looks like it has an extra feeder fork that goes way into the bale chamber, maybe like a packer fork? I don't know, just hope it makes a decent bale. Any comments would be appreciated. Rob

Hi Bill. The 316 NH will bale circles around a JD 336. To be fair, these two models do not compare in size to each other. If I'm not mistaken, you would need a JD 346,347,or 348 to be much closer in capacity. The 336 was actually sold against the NH 273 and 310's. The 316 is one of New Holland's all time best. You would not go wrong with one of them. A 2010 is enough tractor, but if you have steep hills, you may want to reconsider something a bit heavier. Sorry, but I try to stay away from the pricing game. To many differences depending on where you live. Steve

You are correct about both balers. The NH316 is just a larger baler with more capacity. The JD336 is a very good baler and likely suited more for your 2010.
