Ford Sickle Bar Questions

I talked to a guy who has a Ford 505 sickle bar mower today. He said it was belt driven.

Until today, I never heard of a 505. I thought the 501 was pitman driven and the 515 belt driven.

This guy may want to sell the 505 but before I consider it, can anyone tell me anything about it? Performance, reliability, years made and parts availability and what might be a good price.

Also, can it be attached with a rear pto out and pull/drive a crimper in tandem?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Bill,

There is such a beast. I have seen 2 of them in my life. It was apparently an IH machine that Ford sub'ed and painted blue. I am attaching a discussion on this topic from about a year ago. Might be a decent setup. You would need to check and see if it has the pass thru on that machine.
