I have a 650, which is essentially the same unit with a smaller boom/dipperstick. I have had it for about 8 years and am VERY happy with it. It gets a lot of very hard use, digging in stony ground and getting pounded around a lot, and has held up very well.

Things to look for (other than hoses and pins like you'd check on any backhoe) are cracks in the weldments. Mine cracked and has been welded in two places, and the repairs have held up very well. The first place is at the reinforcing plates at the "diamond" or joint between the boom and the dipperstick. The bends in this weldment are quite sharp and prone to stress cracks. The other place is at the base of the boom where it connects to and pivots from the main frame. Again, I was able to weld and "fishplate" this area, and it has held up very well.

The only other thing I can think of is that the joystick linkages have a tendency for the screws that hold them to the control valves to vibrate loose and fall out. I have double-nutted all of them, and this has for the most part eliminated the problem.

The price sounds about right if the unit is not too worn, I think you'll find it to be a good unit.

I have a woods 750 on my ford jubelee. It handles it very well. It has a 16" bucket that can move a lot of dirt. Would like to have a smaller bucket for smaller trenches. This unit runs off the PTO and hav plenty of power.
I bought this hoe used and paid $2700. It is in good condition. I need manuals for it if anyone has them or knows where I can get them.
