I have just purchased a 48 WD with a wide front end. I would like to get any information about a front loader that I could use with this tractor. I am beginning work on a new farm and I have much rock to spread. I have a blade, but a front bucket would sure come in handy. Any help would be appreciated.

I've got a WD and the way my hyd. are hooked up is they mounted a hyd. pump on the front where the hand crank would go . the hyd. are always live whene ever the WD is running. E-mail me if you need more info.

I have read all of the posts on the discussion board and I am still unclear about what will work. I would like to get a bucket that is opearated hydraulically. I understand that I only have one-way hydraulics, so a static bucket is all that would work. However, I was reading in the Norther Tool Catalog that they have a backhoe that has a hydraulic pump that runs off of the rear PTO. It appears to me that this would give me the two-way hydraulics that I would need to have a hydraulically operated bucket. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone have anything that would work for my application? I have a wide front end, so my arms will have to clear the front axle. Any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

You can get two-way hydraulics by various ways on the WD. Simplest is to add some hoses and a valve, using the integral pump- it is not a high volume pump, but for your occasional use it can work. On top of the hydraulic pump valve there are two hoses coming out, going to your lift arms. There is a third port- connect a hose to that, run it to a double two-way valve, and the return line needs to go back into the hydraulic resevoir. Use one valve for the trip bucket, the other for the boom, set up for either one-way or two-way action.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I was not aware of the extra ports on the valve. If I make this conversaion as you described, will I lose any lift power by only utilizing one cylinder?

Lifting power is a function of your pump and loader cylinders- you will not be using only one cylinder. Both lift cylinders are hosed to a T, which is connected to the one-way valve. The two hoses from the bucket cylinder are connected to the two-way valve. By activating your integral pump (with the lever by the steering wheel, and leaving it up), you provide hydraulic power to your new valves.
