My IH 56 planter row markers will not raise as they should when I pick up the planter. The one on the right does not trigger the one on the left to go down all the time. Does anyone know the trick to set the marker mechanism correctly?

Mine also stick at times. Make sure neither marker is bent; if it can bind in the hinge area, it will stick. Make sure your hydraulic cylinder is lifting the planter ALL THE WAY UP when you raise it! If you're pulling this planter with an old H or M that's got a lift-all pump, make sure it isn't a bit low on oil. Clean at least some of the accumulated dirt out of the mechanism in the top center part of the frame where the marker rods connect. OIL this mechanism and make sure the spring is not stretched out. Put a little oil on the chains, and any other part that's apt to have too much friction. When everything is working right, these are a great old corn planter!
