Anyone know anythng about the JD #39 3-pt mounted sickle bar mower? What time period were these made, how well they work, ease of attachment and parts availability.

Thanks in advance

Just bought one back this fall and got it cleaned up and painted last Saturday. Ordered a parts book and owners manual from JD and got them. It seems like a good mower. JD has the parts for them. Ernie

I bought one new in 1972 or 3. It worked really good, easy to put on and off. It burned in a barn fire in '76.

I have A used JD #39 Sickle Bar Mower. {7ft.}I
got it from my Aunt years ago. Never had any
problem with it. Do not use it much now.
I can still get parts for it now if I need them.
Be sure to keep the sickle blade sharp. One problem we do have down here in E Texas Is
fireants. They are so bad that it will trip
the mower. Then you have to stop and back up
to reset it. But as for as the mower it is A good one.
